From September 15 to 18, the drone assembly, adjustment, and maintenance event of the Kunming City 2026 Workers’ Vocational Skills Competition was successfully held and concluded. Held under the theme “Inheriting Craftsmanship, Building Dreams in the Spring City,” the competition was co‑hosted by the Kunming Municipal Federation of Trade Unions and the Kunming Municipal Bureau of Human Resources and Social Security, organized by the Trade Union Committee of Feihu Tuofeng Industrial (Group) Co., Ltd., and supported by the Yunnan Provincial Civilian Drone Association, Yunnan Feihu Vocational Skills Training School Co., Ltd., and Feihu Tuofeng General Aviation Co., Ltd. The event brought together participants from 14 districts, counties, and county-level cities across the city, who registered to compete in drone‑related occupations. Over four days of rigorous professional competition, it comprehensively showcased the high level of expertise and the spirit of craftsmanship among Kunming’s industrial workers in the new era.

Event Kickoff: Enhancing Skills Through Competition

The competition officially kicked off on September 16 at the Feihu Training Base. The opening ceremony was held to the sound of the national anthem, with leaders from the organizing, hosting, and co‑organizing entities in attendance, who delivered remarks encouraging the contestants to compete bravely and refine their skills. To ensure the event is conducted to the highest standards, the organizing committee completed a specialized judges’ training session and pre‑competition briefings for participants on September 15, standardizing judging criteria and strengthening the foundation for all competitors.

Competitive Arena: A Dual Test of Theory and Practice

This competition consists of two main components: a theoretical closed-book computer-based exam and a hands-on practical challenge, with respective weightings of 30% and 70%. The theoretical assessment focuses on core knowledge areas such as drone safety regulations, fundamental theory, and assembly, adjustment, and maintenance. The practical segment is highly specialized and demanding, requiring contestants to independently complete the entire workflow—covering multirotor drone component inspection, full‑aircraft assembly and adjustment, payload integration, fault diagnosis, and flight testing—within 360 minutes, comprehensively evaluating their technical expertise, practical skills, mental resilience, and endurance.

Event Promotion: Multi‑Channel Outreach to Expand Influence
